I went with Option 2

Regarding my last post, I built a new machine on the cheap. It has:

  • Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L 2.0 motherboard
  • Core 2 Duo e6550
  • 4GiB of Kingston HyperX DDR2
  • EVGA GeForce 8600GT, the cheapest card I could find with dual DVI
  • Some cheap Rosewill case
  • Some cheap Seagate drive

These components were chosen with FreeBSD compatibility in mind. It’s been my go-to desktop OS for a few years now since out-growing OS X on my Powerbook G3. I guess I’m a masochist.
